I had been wanting to buy some kale chips lately, but was too cheap to pay the high price, and thus have also successfully resisted the urge to buy a dehydrator. So when these kale chips went on sale at Whole Foods recently, I picked up both flavors.
These are a little different from regular dehydrated kale chips in their texture. Up until now I’d only had the house made kind from restaurants that are flaky, flavored dehydrated leaves. These yummies are a bit more like kale crackers. They’re really nicely seasoned, and have a sesame seed coating on one side. In fact, you end up with so much of these nicely spiced sesame seeds at the bottom of the bag, that I was able to save them from both bags (~1/8 c.) and use them in my Spicy Kale salad. So hang onto your leftover seeds!
Here’s the Kaia / Kaya Super Foods website. Apparently the company is transitioning the name soon, and their products will continue to be available, just under the Kaya name instead.
